At a high level, Socialism had a global implementation starting in the early 1900s, contemporary with the Russian Revolution.

One of the core Socialist narratives is what the wealthy did not earn their wealth, instead it was extracted illegitimately from the oppressed classes, and the government should be used to right that intrinsic wrong of capitalism and forcefully tax the oppressors and give money back to the rightful owners: the dispossessed and oppressed classes.

This led to:

  • 1909: 16th Amendment - Federal Income Tax
  • 1913: Federal Reserve Act - Created Federal Reserve System
  • 1913: 17th Amendment - Direct Election of Senators
  • 1916: Revenue Act of 1916 - Expanded to Corporate Income Tax
  • 1919: 18th Amendment - Prohibition
  • 1920: 19th Amendment - Women's Suffrage
